La Ferrari Testarossa es uno de los íconos de los´80 con varios ejemplos destacados que van desde la blanca de División Miami hasta la negra "del Diego". También está la convertible del OutRun, conducida en los videojuegos a toda velocidad con una blonda del lado del acompañante. Ahora sale a subasta una versión como la del arcade que fue fabricada para el Sultán de Brunei.
La Ferrari Testarossa Pininfarina Spider “Special Production” de 1990, que será subastada el 5 de noviembre, no solo es muy especial, sino que es presentada por RM Sotheby’s con un fabuloso video que rememora al clásico videojuego con metraje en live action protagonizado -obviamente- por la peculiar Ferrari, las cabelleras al viento y el sonido de su motor de doce cilindros opuestos.
Solo existió una Testarossa convertible oficial, que fue producida especialmente para Gianni Agnelli, el mandamás de Fiat. Además, hay siete ejemplares descapotables, que fueron fabricados por Pininfarina, a pedido, incluyendo esta unidad para el Sultán de Brunei. Esta Ferrari está sin matricular y tiene menos de 500 km en el odómetro. Según la casa de subastas, fue muy bien cuidada a lo largo de su vida y recientemente Pininfarina y Zanasi pusieron manos sobre la unidad por un valor estimado en más de €177.000.
“La Testarossa Spider es un automóvil notable por derecho propio, que atrae la atención de coleccionistas de todo el mundo. Pero el hecho de que también sea la estrella de un videojuego, que tantas personas de cierta generación jugaron sin parar a finales de los 80 y principios de los 90, era una oportunidad demasiado buena para no celebrar. ¡Nuestra película es una reinvención divertida del juego de arcade OutRun que nos ha permitido hacer realidad esos sueños de los 80!” comentó Peter Haynes, Director de Relaciones Públicas y Marketing para Europa de RM Sotheby’s.
La Ferrari Testarossa se produjo entre 1984 y 1996, en su vida tuvo distintas actualizaciones, pero siempre conservando el característico motor de 5 litros y doce cilindros opuestos, tecnología que la marca usó extensivamente en la F1. Colocado en la parte trasera, hoy no llaman la atención sus 390 cv ni el 0 a 100 de 5,3 segundos, pero siempre serán parte constitutiva del modelo los radiadores colocados en sus laterales que forzaron esa voluptuosa figura.

(London, England, 26 October 2022) – RM Sotheby’s is delighted to announce that it will offer an incredible 1990 Ferrari Testarossa Pininfarina Spider ‘Special Production’ at its London sale on 5 November. With just one Testarossa Spider having been built by the factory for Fiat boss Gianni Agnelli, a number of special production cars were built by Pininfarina, with seven examples created for Brunei royalty and a small number of additional cars for important clients.
Beyond the significance that these special production Ferrari Testarossa Pininfarina Spiders hold in the real world, it’s a car which also holds a special place in the hearts of 1980s gamers, with the model being the hero of the iconic arcade game ‘OutRun’—one of the best-loved driving games of the era. Players had to steer their fearsome red Testarossa Spider through palm tree-lined roads while avoiding contact with slower-moving traffic. In homage to this landmark computer game, which has sparked so much love for the car over the past 35 years, RM Sotheby’s has created a fantastic film that brings the game to life, using the beautiful example to be offered in the London sale. But the fact that it’s also the star of a computer game, which so many people of a certain generation played endlessly through the late 80s and early 90s, was too good an opportunity not to celebrate. Our film is a fun reimagining of the OutRun arcade game that has allowed us to make those 80s dreams a reality!”
The example offered was supplied new to the owner and remains unregistered with less than 500 km. It has been thoroughly well cared for throughout its life and was recently subject to over €177,000-worth of work by Pininfarina and Zanasi (Estimate: £1,400,000–£1,800,000).
