Comunicado de prensa de Silverstone Auctions Silverstone Auctions secures ex-Fangio car that won’t break the bank!

Fans of Fangio – the world’s greatest ever racing driver - will have the chance to bid for one of his cars, just months after one of his racing cars sold for £17.5m, a figure believed to be a record for a car sold at auction.

However, the big difference this time is that potential owners won’t have to dig anywhere near as deeply into their pockets because the car being offered by Silverstone Auctions at its sales at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show held at the NEC on 15th and 16th November, is one of his old road cars and is being offered without reserve!

The model in question is a 1970 IKA Torino 380S that was driven by the great man himself in his life away from the race track.

Nick Whale, managing director, Silverstone Auctions, said: “Silverstone Auctions has been lucky enough in the past to offer lots from the world’s best racing drivers including Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher”.

“However, Fangio is the king of them all, so we’re honoured to have his 1970 IKA Torino at our NEC Classic Sale and the fact that it is being offered without reserve is sure to only increase its appeal to potential bidders

“Indeed, few would argue that this is a very special item and we are very proud to have been chosen by his family to present his prized model to the global market from our sale in the UK.”

It is believed that Fangio was gifted the Torino 380S by IKA in respect of his contribution to the creation of what is commonly referred to as Argentina’s national car.

Included in the lot are many documents related to Fangio’s ownership of the car, including insurance documents, an Argentinian vehicle green card, handbook, service card and Fangio’s international licence.

Offered in highly original condition, the car is in exceptionally good order, and has been untouched by his family since he passed away in 1995.

“By successes Juan Manuel Fangio can be regarded as the greatest racing driver of all time. His Formula One percentages still eclipse any other driver, so if you want to own a car that has been touched with motor racing greatness and won’t break the bank, then this is surely it,” added Nick.
