En agosto del 2008, la presentación del Renault Symbol/Thalia en Rusia y Turquía (ver nota) anticipó cómo sería la versión sedán del Clio que se terminaría fabricando poco después en la planta cordobesa de Santa Isabel.
El mes pasado, la presentación de los Dacia Logan/Sandero de segunda generación en el Salón de París (ver nota) anticipó cómo serán los modelos que se fabricarán en Brasil a fines del 2013.
Ahora, en el Salón de Estambul, Renault sorprendió al presentar la nueva generación del Symbol: ya no es un Clio sedán, ahora es un Logan II con emblemas del Rombo.
Es poco probable que este Symbol turco reemplace al Symbol cordobés y lo más posible es que este Dacia Logan con rombo sustituya al Renault Logan brasileño. De lo que no hay dudas es de que, sumado a la estrategia de lanzar el Clio Mío inspirado en la estética del Clio IV, será interesante seguir de cerca la política de productos de Renault en los diferentes mercados donde tiene presencia.

ADEMÁS Otro restyling para el Fluence
Además del nuevo Symbol, Renault presentó en el Salón de Estambul una segunda interpretación para el restyling del Fluence.
Esta variante tiene una estática más agradable, deportiva y armónica que el restyling anunciado el mes pasado para el mercado de México (ver video).

New Renault Symbol is being given its first public airing at the Istanbul Motor Show. The newcomer’s upgraded, modern equipment specification and revised engine range ensure it has all the ingredients to make it a hit with customers in Renault’s international markets.
New Renault Symbol features Renault’s new styling identity which provides it with a modern, even more dynamic stance.
Comfort has been enhanced by a raft of modern technologies, including cruise control with speed limiter, automatic climate control and the Renault Media Nav navigation system which incorporates a wide touchscreen display, plus USB and Bluetooth® connectivity.
A new petrol engine (TCe 90, 5.3 litres/100km*), as well as a choice of economical diesel powerplants that are even more respectful of the environment.
New Renault Symbol’s reliability is backed by a three-year or 100,000km warranty.
“New Renault Symbol delivers a level of equipment normally associated with vehicles from the next segment up,” notes Evrim Gouillou, Marketing Project Manager. “Its new design and attractive equipment package are the perfect answer to meet the demands of customers in Renault’s international markets.”
Modern styling
New Renault Symbol features Renault’s new styling cues. As is the case with all the brand’s new models, the front logo is larger and sits in a more prominent, upright position in the middle of a wide, black, chrome-trimmed grille strip.
A standard of comfort and technologies worthy of the next segment up
New Renault Symbol seats up to five adults in perfect comfort thanks to the availability of even more room for rear passengers.
In response to the needs of customers in Renault’s international markets, New Renault Symbol comes with a more extensive equipment package, including (depending on version) the Renault Media Nav multimedia navigation system complete with a wide, seven-inch (18cm) touchscreen colour display. Meanwhile, USB and Bluetooth® connectivity enables occupants to enjoy music stored on portable players and to make or take telephone calls in total safety. The specification also includes cruise control with speed limiter, while modularity is enhanced by the 60/40-split folding rear bench seat.
A choice of more economical and more environmentally-respectful engines
New Renault Symbol’s customers will be able to specify the new TCe 90 petrol engine. The fuel consumption of this 90-horsepower powerplant is just 5.3 litres/100km, equivalent to 122g of CO2/km. The list also includes the dCi 75 and dCi 90 diesel engines, the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions of which have come down to 3.9 litres/100km and 103g/km respectively.

New Renault Symbol has been engineered for use by customers in Renault’s international markets and comes with a three-year/100,000km warranty.
Following its unveiling at the Istanbul Motor Show, New Renault Symbol is scheduled to go on sale in Turkey at the beginning of 2013, before being released in Algeria and Tunisia.

New Renault Fluence is to be unveiled at the Istanbul Motor Show. The modern styling and on-board technologies of this three-volume saloon car, which is poised to continue the model’s international career, have been designed to match the needs of its customers as closely as possible.
New Renault Fluence features Renault’s new styling identity and incorporates LED daytime running lights which contribute to its dynamic, modern look.
A new 1.6 16V 115 petrol engine mated to the new X-Tronic CVT automatic transmission for easy, stress-free motoring in built-up areas.
On-board and connected technologies designed to assist drivers, including Renault R-Link, a hands-free card, automatic parking brake, etc.
The model will go on sale in January 2013 in Turkey and will be launched in more than 55 other countries in the course of next year.
“The changes featured on New Renault Fluence are perfectly in phase with the needs of our key international markets, like Turkey and Russia,” notes Hyun-Young Kwak, Project Marketing Manager, Renault Fluence.
Modern, dynamic styling
New Renault Fluence features Renault’s new styling identity. Its front end is the same as that of the brand’s other new models, with a vertically-set logo at the centre of a broad black strip picked out by chrome beading which provides the car with a dynamic stance.
The LED daytime running lights and chrome/gloss black inserts also contribute to the newcomer’s modern appeal.
The design of the interior is also more modern, including digital instrumentation for all versions.
The cabin is as roomy as ever and has been enhanced by the use of new upholsteries for segment-topping comfort.
A choice of petrol or diesel engines, with automatic transmission, ideal for motoring in built-up areas.
The new 1.6 16V 115 engine drives through the new-generation X-Tronic CVT automatic transmission to combine a seamless, jar-free ride with sprightly driving pleasure, as well as a significant reduction in fuel consumption which is down by 1.3 litres/100km to 6.4 litres/100km, while CO2 emissions are down 15 percent to 149g/km*.
Along with the previously available diesel dCi 110 EDC (Efficient Dual Clutch) engine, New Renault Fluence can be specified with petrol or diesel power mated with advanced automatic transmission.
The diesel range has been extended to include the new dCi 130 engine (depending on market) which has already been widely acclaimed for its performance and the driving enjoyment it delivers. This 1.6-litre diesel engine is the most powerful in its class yet its fuel consumption has been reduced to just 4.6 litres/100km, equivalent to 119g of CO2/km.
New Renault Fluence has a raft of on-board, connected technologies and innovations.
New Renault Fluence comes with numerous driver-aid technologies – hand -free card with remote central locking, front and rear parking sensors, automatic parking brake, etc. – which have become essential equipment for city motorists.
From the basic equipment level up, all versions are ‘connected’ thanks to the availability of new Bluetooth® radios equipped with USB and jack sockets.
At the higher-end of the range, New Renault Fluence features a major innovation in the form of the Renault R-Link multimedia system which will provide connected services and is ideally suited to motoring use thanks to its touchscreen display and voice commands. Renault R-Link incorporates the navigation system and telephony function and can be connected to portable music players. In a second step to come soon after the launch, it will also provide access to R-Link Store’s catalogue of automotive applications that can be downloaded in the same way as smartphone applications.
The model is made at Oyak-Renault factory in Bursa, Turkey, and sales begin in Turkey in January 2013.
New Renault Fluence will be given its very first public airing at the Istanbul Motor Show on November 2-11, 2012.
